Day Twenty-Six Of Growing

Ali's Growing Plant
Ali: I have continued growing my plants and watering them daily. My tallest plant is now twenty-one centimeters in tall, which is exponentially taller than when I once began. I have also noticed a wide path of roots extending very deep into my soil, entangling many of my various sprouts.I hope this network will not lead to competition between the various plants I have also continued to study about carrots. Today our group also had a meeting, discussing updating the blog and we hope we can now update more efficiently. See you tomorrow!

Miles:
Something that hasn't happened in a while, just happened overnight! My plant grew approximately about 2~2.5cm! My plant is now 9.4cm tall. I'm very
impressed with my carrot. Plants are an amazing creature that helps our environment significantly. Cannot, express my feeling about the growth of my carrots. Again, I'm very proud of my carrots. It's remarkable how a plant can grow overnight. The growth of the carrot got me motivate
d to continue watering my plant and providing them with more solar energy/sunlight.

Nikita
My plants seem to be doing fine in their new "home". I hadn't been watering them for the past few days in order to let the soil dry out a little. This would allow air pockets to form in the soil. However, today I watered them again since the soil seemed to have dried out a bit. Also, since I still have a lot of our seeds left over, I decided to plant some more of them because there was so much room available in the pot. The more plants we have in time for the plant show, the better!

Day Twenty-Five Of Growing

Ali's Growing Plant
Ali: I have continued growing my plant and watering it every single day. Upon measuring my tallest plant, I have noticed that it is about twenty centimeters tall in height, as to which I am completely ecstatic. My tallest plant has now diverged into three shoots, which provide it with a very abstract look. Many of the other sprouts have also had their fair share of growth, with some diverging into multiple leaves. I hope my plant will continue growing. See you tomorrow!

Miles:
Today, I noticed that my carrot has extended their leaves, in order to receive maximum amount of sunlight. They also started to grow another stem that grows right between
two stems. It was very interesting how these plants were adapting to the environment.
A slow movement/growth, but very interesting. As always, I'm giving my plant half a cup of water and providing them with plenty of solar energy from my lamp.

Nikita
Today I transferred all my plants into a much bigger pot that will provide them with enough room to grow and expand. Also, while i was transferring the plants to the bigger pot I noticed that the soil in each container was quite damp all the way to the bottom. This is probably why some of my plants are wilting. So far my wilted plants haven't shown any improvement. I hope that this new habitat will provide the plants with better conditions for growing.

Day Twenty-Four Of Growing

Ali's Growing Plants
Ali: After watering my plants for today, I measured them to find that they have grown to a measure of approximately nineteen centimeters. I have also given my plant a break from its environment by placing it on the window sill, but quickly placed it back in its original environment. I hope my plant will continue to grow. See you tomorrow!

Miles:
During my research about carrots, I discovered that carrots are essential for the blood sugar regulator. It's also rich in many vitamins, such as vitamin C, D, E, K, B1, and B6. I figured
that this fact will be very useful, during our presentation at the
plant contest. We can make
a carrot juice and explain how our carrot is essential for our daily life. I haven't seen a lot growth with my carrot today, but I'm satisfied with the valuable research that I've found.

Day Twenty-Three Of Growing

Ali: I have continued growing my plants in a steady and nurturing manner. The tallest leaf now measures in at about eighteen centimeters, as to which I am thoroughly excited. I hope my plant can continue growing at this rate. I have continued studying about carrots and watering my plants daily. I have continued thinking about what I could do to positively influence the environment in which my plants are being nurtured in. See you tomorrow!

Miles:
My carrots seems like its having a steady grow pace. It grew .3cm
more. I continue to provide my plant half cup of water and solar energy. While I'm continuing to provide what my carrot needs, I decided to research about carrots. A better knowledge about carrots would help me grow the carrot better. If I can any important information about carrots, then I'll post on the blog and share it with my group.

Nikita
Today i noticed that two of my plants had wilted! I noticed that one's stem got very thin at the base and caused the plant to wilt. This alarmed me so I researched why this happens. I found out that over watering the plants and no air spaces in the soil can cause this problem. I felt my soil and it felt very damp indeed. The website that i checked recommended to not water your plant for a day or two, so that is what i will try. I also poked some holes in the soil to create air spaces. I hope this will help. I am deeply concerned about my plants!

Day Twenty-Two Of Growing

Ali: My tallest plant has now grown to a height of seventeen centimeters. I have also noticed that my plant is displaying a very positive photo-taxis to the lamp. I have used this to my benefit as to how I want my leaves to look in arrangement for display. I have also continued to water my plants their alloted amount of water each day. I hope my plants will continue growing wonderfully. See you tomorrow!

Miles:
I'm not seeing any color change in the plant, which
is a good sign. My tallest plant is now roughly about 8.1cm tall. I'm still continuing to water half a cup of water and providing solar energy for my carrot. I noticed that there was one plant
that recently sprouted. I guess that one seed was planted a little bit deeper that the other seeds. My carrots are showing great progress overall and eventually, hard work will pay off!

Day Twenty-One Of Growing

Ali: Upon checking upon my plants today, I noticed that their growth had once again resumed. My tallest plant is now sixteen centimeters, with several other plants surrounding it. I have also noticed a large array of hairs of the stems of each of my seedlings. I am very joyful about this because more water will now be able to be absorbed. I have continued watering my plants as well. See you tomorrow!

Miles:
Measuring my plant's growth, I believe it has grown about .1~.2 cm in height. Just relieved that the plant hasn't stopped growing. Now that I know that the plant hasn't stopped growing, I'm hoping that the plant will grow in a faster pace. As
always, I'm giving half a cup of water and providing solar energy for my carrots need. My plant has a bright leaf color, so I'm assuming it's consuming all the nutrition it needs. If my plant starts to turn yellow or some other color, then I know that something is wrong. I'll be in a look out of that just in case.

Day Twenty Of Growing

Ali's Growing Plant
Ali: Today, I once again measured my plants to find only a very few millimeters of growth. Though a bit disappointed, I continued to water my plants and provide them with sunlight. The last of my seeds have finally germinated and the entire cup is now filled with an array of green leaves. Despite the vast array of seeds, I am fearful that some of my seeds are germinating upside-down. Nevertheless, I am continuing to cherish my plants and will update the blog daily. See you tomorrow!

Miles:
I placed my pot near the window where my plant could receive natural sunlight. I could tell that my plant was moving toward the light, once again. Measured my plant once again, but didn't see a whole lot of growth. Little disappointed, but can blame the plant. Hopefully, the plant
hasn't stopped growing or else it would be a problem. Our group still has like a month for our plant to grow, so no need to stress about the growth. I'm hoping that patience will solve the
problem. I will continue to water and provide solar energy for my plant!

Nikita
My plants have grown a few more centimeters since they sprouted. They are still coiled up because they are in their primary stage of growth. I am providing them with adequate water and sunlight. I can identify the basic structures of the plant now. In a few more days I am planning on transferring them to a bigger pot to allow them to grow better.

Adam:
Today i noticed that the carrots split off into three segments at the base of the stem. They are about 3 1/2 inches tall now.

Day Nineteen Of Growing

Ali's Growing Seedling
Ali: I continued the daily routine of growing my plants today. After researching more into my plant, I decided to give it a brief change in environment and placed it on the window sill I have not yet noticed any change in growth, but have been continually watering my plant. However, I have noticed the development of many other seedlings. I hope that my plant will continue growing effectively. See you tomorrow!

Miles:
Watering my plant is starting to be a habit, which is a good sign because I won't forget about watering my plant. I also turned on my lamp, so that
my plant receives all the energy it needs to function. My plants are starting to demand for the solar energy because its starting to grow toward the light. My lamp is a little tilted, so the angle that the light is giving off varies; th
erefor, my plant are moving toward the area where they can receive more energy. In all, everything is going great!

Day Eighteen Of Growing

Ali's Environment
Ali: I am continuing to grow my plants. I realize how important it is to be omniscient in the field of growth we are now involved in. As such, we have begun researching carrots intensely. For example, I am now certain that carrots are dicots. I also am now sure that carotene provides carrots with an orange shade. I have continued growing my plants and providing them with both water and the upmost love. My plants have unimaginably grown, with the tallest plant at seventeen centimeters. I can't wait until growing tomorrow! See you tomorrow!

Miles:
I have continued to give half a cup of water and provide solar energy for my carrot. I'm seeing a lot of progress in my carrot. It is now approximately 7.2cm! I was putting my carrot out
side because the weather has definitely warmed up, but there it seemed cloudy outside, so I didn't leave my carrot outside. Perhaps later in the week, I might put my carrot outside for some refreshing oxygen and sunlight. Until the plant contest, I'm going to continue to water and provide solar energy for my plant. Hopefully, there won't be nay problem with my carrot during the growth.

Nikita
Now, even more of my plants have sprouted and are growing very rapidly! They look healthy and strong. I water them once a day and try to provide them with the most sunlight possible. Since my carrots are getting quite big, I think they will need more space to grow, so I am thinking about eventually moving them to a bigger pot. This will allow them to grow to their full potential.

Day Seventeen Of Growing

Miles's Seedlings
Our group is continuing hard on our work to produce the best grown plants around. As of now, every single member of our group has a minimum of three seeds that have sprouted. Each day, our group continues to water our plants the alloted amount of water. The growth our group has experienced each day has grown to exponential rates. Miles has seedlings measuring around 9 centimeters, while Ali has seedlings measuring 15 centimeters. We are all continuing to study our plants and learn more about them. See you tomorrow!

Miles:
During the process of analyzing our groups soil, I was responsible for analyzing the amount of nitrogen in the soil. Turns out that there were medium amount of nitrogen, according to the color that matched to the chart. All of our group member's carrot has been sprouted. My carrot looks very healthy and I continue to provide my plant with constant light for 12hr and 1/2cup of water everyday. So far, my plant is 6.3cm tall. I'm going to try my best to provide everything that'll help my carrot grow better.

Day Sixteen Of Growing: The First Soil Test

Ali's Growing Plant
Today our group sacrificed our lunch time to test the nutrients within our soil. Nikita, Adam, Ali, and Miles all tested the soil that Ali had supplied for testing. The results showed that the pH of the soil was 6.0, which is slightly to moderately acidic. The phosphorous test also yielded results that suggested a trace amount of the element. The nitrogen test supplied the information of their being a medium amount of nitrogen in the soil. Since ten drops were placed in the Potassium (Potash) Test, the soil has a high level of potassium in it. Our group will soon approach the issue of how to correct the issues with the soil on Monday. The plants of Adam, Ali, and Miles have already sprouted, with Ali's being the largest. We can't wait to show our consumers the quality of our products. See you tomorrow!

Day Fifteenth Of Growing

Ali's Plant Resting on The Window Sill
Ali: My tallest plant now stands at about ten centimeters tall, as to which I am ecstatic over. Our group has finally decided upon meeting tomorrow during lunch, rather than today. After watering my plants, I made measurements and made sure my soil for testing was completely dried out. I also provided my plant with another brief change of habitat by allowing my plant to rest upon the window sill. During this period, I believe that my plant was supplied with a large supply of needed sunlight. I will post soil testing results tomorrow. See you tomorrow!

Miles:
My carrot is showing great progress! The tallest plant is approximately about 6.3cm tall. I'm hoping it'll keep growing. Seems like the weather is starting to warm up because the temperature has gone up. If the temperature gets warmer, I might get into consideration of putting my plant outside for natural light. Until the temperature reaches the point where its safe to keep the plant outside, I'll keep my plant inside and give constant care. Providing solar energy and 1/2cup of water for my carrot can be a hassle, but it sure pays off! I'll continue to water and provide solar energy for my carrot until the plant contest.

Nikita:
Today my plants finally sprouted!! The photosynthetic part of the plant is now visible above the soil. I am continuing to provide it with water and occasionally I put my plants outside for a few hours while the sun is shining. This provides the plants with ample natural light.

Day Fourteen Of Growing

Ali's Plant Continuing To Grow
Ali: Today during lunch, Nikita and I discussed when we were to go in for soil testing. We decided that I will gather soil later today, and that she would sign us up to go on Thursday during lunch. After getting home, I went and collected a little bit of soil that I put out to dry. I will bring this soil to school tomorrow for testing. When I watered my plants, I noticed that another seed had sprouted. The longest sprout is six centimeters, while the two new seedlings are two and one centimeters tall, respectively. I can't wait for soil testing tomorrow! See you tomorrow!

Miles:
Today, I was told by Ali, that he was going to bring soil for the soil testing and Nikita was going to sign our group for soil testing. We decided that we'll go to the lab where we can test our soil during lunch. The soil testing day was going to be on the day when the lab was open. Since other group were using the lab to use the soil kit, we had to wait until the lab was open. Whenever the lab was open, we decided to go on that day. I've heard that there were 4parts to the soil lab. Our group decided to split the job into 1/4 because there were four people in out group. I am very eager to enter the lab to test my soil!

Adam:
Today my plants sprouted! They don't look very big but I'm sure that soon enough they will grow to be large carrots. I stopped leaving the lamp on overnight because I am afraid that they will get burned.

Day Thirteen Of Growing

Ali's Growing Seedling
Ali: My plants have continued to grow very successfully. When going to water my plants their alloted water, I noticed that another sprout had grown in my soil. My first sprout is now five centimeters, while the second measured in at about five centimeters. I am so excited! My plant is continuing to grow at a rate at which it will soon become a huge plant! My group is also considering when to sign up for our soil testing time. We will probably meet tomorrow to discuss it. See you tomorrow!

Miles: My seeds have finally sprouted! After watering 1/2cup of water and providing sunli
ght/solar energy, it finally sprouted! My plant is approximately about 2cm long in length. I will continu
e to water and provide sunlight to my plants. So far, Ali, Adam, and my plant has sprouted. The process of growing our groups's plant is going very well. Tomorrow, or perhaps on Monday, my group is going to analyze our soil. Ali volunteered to analyze his soils first; therefore, we'll be
analyzing his soil first. I'll keep the blog updated on my plants progress.

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Day Twelve Of Growing

Ali's Growing Sprout
Ali: I have continued watering my plants, as well as making sure to measure it daily. My plant is now three centimeters in height! Most of the surrounding seeds are also growing more green and beginning to allow for the sprouting of little leaves and stems. My group is going to discuss having a soil test done on Wednesday. I hope our soil is perfect for our plants, being rich in carbon, nitrogen, and having the correct amount of pH needed. I cannot wait until my plants are large enough to present to everyone on the day of the plant show. See you tomorrow!

Miles:
My carrot hasn't sprouted, but I have a good feeling that it'll sprout in the next few days because the seed looks very "healthy." It's a hutch, I guess. I predict that Ali's plant is the tallest in our group, with a height of three centimeters. I can't wait until my plants germinate. Harvesting my carrots are going to be a good experience. I will continue to provide solar energy and half a cup of water for my carrot, hoping that it'll grow faster and better. I will post pictures and update on the blog whenever, the plant germinates.

Nikita: I am still waiting for my plants to sprout! Today I put them outside for a few hours in the afternoon. I tried to provide them with as much natural light as possible. Hopefully my plants will sprout in the next few days.

Day Eleven Of Growing

Measuring Ali's Plant
Ali: I have continued watching my sprouting seedling and watering it daily. I have continued reading about my plants, analyzing all various factors that involve its growth. I remeasured my plants to find that it had grown to a height of two cm. as of this point. This greatly excites me because it shows that the rate at which my plant is growing at is increasing rapidly. I can't wait until my seed is full size! All surrounding seeds are beginning to sprout. See you tomorrow!

Day Ten Of Growing

Ali's Seedling Sprout
Ali: My teammates have not recently observed any growth in their plants, so they will most often not post any updates until their plants sprout. However, they will all continue to water their plants regularly, just as I am. I went to check upon my plants to see that one of my seeds had sprouted a leaf and stem. After measuring my plant, I noticed that it was about one cm. in height. I am so excited! Our group is soon going to go preform a soil test. My plants are continuing to grow and are still receiving their sunlight and water. I can't wait until tomorrow's growth in my plant. See you tomorrow!

Nikita: My plants still haven't shown any sign of growth. I am continuing to provide them with the things they need to grow. I hope that the seed has started to sprout under the soil, and will soon show above the surface!

Sunday, February 13, 2011

Day Nine of Growing

Ali's Seedlings On the Window

Ali: My plants were given a brief shift of habitat, as I shifted them from my counter to a window for only three hours. This allowed my plants to absorb a bit more natural sunlight then a lamp would allow. After the period of three hours, my plants were replaced back to their natural habitat. I also continued to read and study about plant growth, which I think would be very beneficial to be knowledgeable about. After watering my plants their alloted water and taking a picture. I decided to call it a day, and simply continued to study. I can't wait until my plants sprout! See you tomorrow!

Miles: I just found a pot that my family wasn't using by my garage. I decided to fill the pot with some soil that could be found in my backyard. Then, I planted some carrots
seeds with 1/2cup of water. There were possibilities that my carrots wouldn't grow successfully inside the house with a lamp. The pot that I found in my garage will stay outside to receive natural sunlight with 1/2cup of water; therefore, I'll have two
different location for my carrots to grow.

Day Eight Of Growing

Ali's Seedlings
Not much has occurred with our plants, but we still are continuing to grow them with the up-most care and joy. Each of us has been continuing to shelter our plants from harsh conditions, and bathing them in their daily alloted water. We met once more about when we are to do the soil testing, and decided upon meeting next week, most likely on a Wednesday. Each group member is now avidly reading their textbook in hopes if leaning more about our precious plants. We'll inform you as soon as our plants begin to sprout. See you tomorrow!

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Day Seven Of Growing

Ali's Growing Seedlings
Ali: After returning home from school, I rushed to nourish my seeds with another one-half of a cup of their alloted water. Today, our group discussed when we were to sign up for soil testing. Should this resource be available, we will attempt to identify the nutrients and pH of our soil. I highly hope that my soil has a neutral pH, with an adequate amount of nutrients for my seeds to flourish upon. I have also continued to bathe my plants with solar energy from the sun and light and heat from my lamp. Since my last account of costs, I have not purchased any other materials for the growth of my plant. Our group will most likely have another hour-long meeting over this weekend. I am strongly awaiting the sprouting of my seedlings into blossoming carrots. See you tomorrow!

Nikita's Growing Seeds
Nikita: I met with Ali today during lunch and we talked about how our group was going to test our soil in the near future. During the previous day, our group also met during lunch to discuss how we would tackle the issue of illustrating our plants's daily growth. When I arrived home, I watered my plants with the amount of light they require. I also searched my environment to ensure that no seeds had sprouted without my knowledge yet. I hope to go to Coach Wimpey's room with my teammates to compare our soils and test their nutrients. I cannot wait until my seedlings finally sprout. See you later!

Miles: There's still no progress with the seeds. I still await for the seeds to germinate. Other than the carrot seeds, our group made a lot of progress. During lunch period, we decided our role on drawing the parts of the plant. I was chosen to draw the roots and one microscopic picture of a cell which could be located in the biology book. Ali and Nikita decided to check out the soil kit to analyze the soil condition, but the check-out sheet wasn't ready until few days later. We will analyze our soil as soon as we check out the soil kit.

Miles's Environment

Adam's Seedlings

Adam: Not much has happened lately, the seeds are still germinating. It is day four of growing, and no progress is visible but I'm sure life is teaming under the soil. I plan on taking my soil in for testing one day next week. I really hope the seeds will grow out of the soil soon. Yesterday at lunch our group divided the pictures we need to draw for the project. I am in charge of the seed and leaf drawings. I plan on using the textbook and various websites as references.

Day Six Of Growing

Not much occurred in respect to the growth of anyone's plant in our group. We are all continuing to water our plants daily and are making sure they get the correct amount of sunlight provided to them. We are also planning how we are to draw the progress our plants make, which we met during lunch to discuss for. We are also beginning to consider when we will enter Coach Wimpey's room to test the concentration of our soil. We hope our soil is perfect in meeting the requirements needed for our plant's growth. Our nursery will continue to supply you with all the daily updates and pictures you require. See you tomorrow!

Day Five Of Growing

Miles's Seeds

Miles: It's been a day since I planted my carrot. I don't see any progress, but the information behind the seed packet says that it'll take about 8 to 12days until the seed germinates. I allowed the seeds to receive maximum solar energy for 12 hours. Until the seed germinates, I'll have to wait patiently and provide everything what my carrot needs, such as solar energy, water, etc. As soon as I see any progress, I'll take pictures and post updates.

Adam:  Yesterday, everyone was given their portion of seeds to take home. Last night, I planted the seeds three fourths of an inch under the soil. I watered them and turned the lamp on. After leaving the lamp on all night, I checked the pots of soil. The soil was completely dry, so I added more water and moved the pots away from the lamp. I will try again and again until I find the right place for the pots so that the soil will not dry out so fast. This is the second day of growing and I await the day when the seeds will break the surface.

Ali's Still-Growing Seedlings
Ali: Today, I supplied my plants with their daily supplement of water. I soon noticed I had five earthworms in my soil, which is great because they can irrigate the soil. I continued the twelve hour cycle of the lamp being placed on my plant. My soil is very excellent at absorbing the water and supplying it to the seeds. My soil is also very loamy, allowing for a lot of air spaces. I can’t wait until my seeds finally break through the soil. See you tomorrow!

NikitaI checked on my plants this morning. Nothing had changed. I watered them to keep the soil moist. I also rearranged them so that each cup received an equal amount of light from the lamp. As for now, I am just waiting for the plants to break the surface of the soil!

Monday, February 7, 2011

Day Four Of Growing

Ali's Seeds

Ali:  Today during lunch, the seeds were divided among everyone in our group, to which I was completely overjoyed with. I went outside after coming home and gathered soil, which was later placed in my cup. I placed some more soil in a plastic bag to be analyzed later. I placed three seeds every three inches in my cup, and the proceeded to water them with one- half of a cup of water, which my plants require to grow. I also began the twelve hour lighting cycle I need to maintain for my plants. I cannot wait for my plants to grow to their maximum potential.

The Packet of Seeds That Were Distributed
Adam:  Today everyone in the group brought a Ziplock bag to school, and at lunch everyone was given one fourth of the seeds. We carefully transported the seeds throughout the day, so they will not get squashed. When I got home, I put a plastic lid under each pot so that when I begin planting, the water will not pour out the bottom. I then filled each pot with Miracle-Grow planting soil which will be tested tomorrow. I am now waiting to for further instructions from Nikita as to how deep and how far apart the seeds should go. I will be giving each pot one fourth of a cup of water a day, and twelve hours of lamp light. As soon as the plant breaks the surface of the soil, I will record the height in millimeters and also have a picture every day.

Miles's Seeds
Miles: Today during lunch, our group equally distributed the seeds into a zip lock bag. Each person received 1/4 of the seeds provided in the seed pack. It was very important that we were very careful with the seeds because the carrot seeds tend to be fragile and sensitive. When I safely carried the seeds back home, I planted the seeds in rows. I gently sprinkled them on top of the soil, then gently poured 1/2cup of water. I will now wait for the seeds to emerge from the soil. As soon as the carrot seeds emerge from the soil, I'll take photos.

Nikita's Seeds
Nikita: Today during lunch we distributed the seeds between ourselves. We decided that it would be best for all of to all grow our seeds in soil from our backyard instead of spending money on store-bought soil. When i got home, I got soil from my backyard and filled the temporary cups with the soil. I then put the seeds in and covered them with more soil. I also made sure to give them water. As soon as they emerge from the soil, i will be taking pictures of the plants daily!measure the plants progress daily.

Day Three Of Growing

Ali: Today was rather uneventful in terms of preparation for my environment. Since I already had all my environmental factors, I decided to simply research more about our plant, and continue planning out what we wish to accomplish during the plant show. I would thoroughly enjoy introducing our plant with a poster board backdrop that will provide education about our nursery. We will also probably distribute carrot cake and carrots with ranch to our potential buyers. We will also have a laptop nearby, in which our buyers will be allowed to browse our blog. I am extremely excited for receiving the seeds from Nikita tomorrow. Everyone will bring a plastic bag to school, which will be used to distribute the seeds. See you tomorrow!

Miles:  In order for our carrots to grow successfully, we need trustful heat and light energy. Since the good old mother nature can't provide our carrot with constant energy, we decided to use our lamp to provide solar energy for our loving carrot. The lamp that I got for $3.50 from Target will be used. Our group figured that giving our carrot solar energy for 24/7 wasn't the best choice, so we decided to leave the lamp on for about 12hours per day. Since the weather outside wasn't suitable to grow our carrots, we came into an agreement to grow our carrots inside. As of right now, I'm using a plastic cup that I got from a restaurant for free as a pot for the carrots to grow. My total expense so far is $3.50. Now, I eagerly wait for the seeds to be distributed on Monday.

Day Two Of Growing

Miles: To plant our group's carrots, we needed soil that'll make our carrot grow successfully. Since it was raining for the last 4 days, I figured that the soil in my backyard was full with minerals. I also figured that the soil was nutritious because my parents and I used food waste to make the soil rich in the last few
months. Therefore, I decided to use the soil that could be founded in my backyard.

Miles's Environment

Ali's Environment

Ali: I managed to obtain many of the key elements. The lamp I have placed in my plant's environment will be active for twelve hours each day. This lamp was purchased from a garage sale for 75¢. The water bottle is also near the 20¢ cup I have obtained. This 40¢ water bottle will provide the plant with one-half cup of water each day. My total cost as of now is $1.35. On Monday, when I obtain my portion of the seeds, I will also gather soil, which my seeds will be placed in. My soil is now going to be gathered from the backyard, while Nikita's commercial soil will act as the constant variable. The soils Miles, Adam, and I gather will be the variables. See you tomorrow!

Adam's Environment
Adam: Today each member of the group was assigned to go out and buy any supplies needed for the beginning of the project. I went to Walmart and bought four clay pots for $1.32, a lamp to provide heat and light energy needed for life ($1.75), and obtained some soil from my home. I then put together my budget for the project, and so far my total is $3.07. When I got home I found a safe spot to set up my growing station where the plants will not be disturbed. I set the pots up in a row and placed the lamp above them. Now that the area is ready, I await bringing the seeds home on Monday, when we will begin the growing process. Also, we have realized that leaving the lamp on 24/7 may not be the best choice, so right now the times that we have the lamps on is open for debate.

Nikita's Environment
Nikita: Today i set up the arrangement for our plants. I found a suitable spot near a window so the plants can receive natural sunlight as well as light from a lamp. This lamp will stay on for approximately 12 hours everyday. As a group we also decided that I would grow my seeds in store-bought soil, while Miles, Ali, and Adam grow theirs in soil from their backyards. I decided to first grow my seeds in a plastic cup and later transfer them into a bigger pot as needed. As of now, I have the seed packet, but we are planning to distribute them on Monday so we can start growing our seeds as soon as possible!

Day One Of Growing

Today was the day our group was assigned. Our group is composed of Miles, Nikita, Ali, and Adam, all of whom share the goal of growing carrots . At eight o' clock we had a group chat after Ali made a Facebook group for us to communicate through. During this online meeting, we decided that Miles and Adam are to grow their plants using soil they are to find in their backgrounds, which will later be analyzed. Ali and Nikita will utilize fertilizer produced by a company, which will also later be analyzed. Each member is now considering the elements they will utilize to build their environments. As of now, each group member will provide each plant with about 1/2 of a cup of water each day. Each member will also supply their plants with a constant supply of light, which will be provided by a lamp or any other lighting fixture. On Monday, each member will bring a plastic Ziplock bag to contain the seeds that will be divided that day. Our group will continue to have meetings every lunch period, and once for a minimum of one hour each weekend. We will continue to post daily and take as many pictures as possible. We hope to satisfy our clients's needs, and our plant's desire for growth! Orange you glad you chose us for your commercial plant needs?
